Reiki and Tong Ren
Reiki is Universal Life Energy that is channeled from God for relaxation and healing. It is transmitted by the hands, which are considered to be instruments of love. Tania always had an interest in hands-on healing. When she was nine, her two-year-old sister was diagnosed with leukemia and nearly died three times. In addition to allopathic treatment, her parents joined a charismatic prayer group, which met at their house several times a month to pray over her sister. They would extend their hands over the baby and chant in tongues for a few minutes. The combination of allopathic and holistic treatment completely healed her baby sister.
Tania was naturally drawn to Reiki after the death of her calico cat Cosette in 1998. Cosette was adopted from the SPCA as an adult in 1995 and developed mammary cancer. Tania felt completely helpless when it was recommended to euthanize the animal. She began searching for less-invasive holistic treatment and discovered Reiki. Reiki was very similar to the hands-on healing her sister experienced as a child. The Reiki Ideals really resonated with her:
Just for today, do not anger
Do not worry and be filled with gratitude
Devote yourself to your work. Be kind to people.
Every morning and evening, join your hands in prayer.
Pray these words to your heart
and chant these words with your mouth.
She became a certified Usui Reiki master in 2002. When her tabby cat, Andersen, was diagnosed with an aggressive malignant tumor in his jaw, she decided to forgo allopathic treatment and focus on treating him with Reiki. He lived 7 times longer than the vet's prognosis. Towards the end of his life, she was introduced to Tong Ren, which is acupuncture without needles. This healing system appealed to her because the inventor was healing stage 4 cancer patients that the medical establishment had given up on after surgery, chemo and radiation had failed them. She eagerly learned Tong Ren and combines that practice with Reiki.
